THEY BURNED WHAT WE BUILT.

GREENWOOD 1921 | BLACK WALL STREET

They built a community. They built businesses. They built wealth. They built a future.

Then came the fire.

In the early 1900s, the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, became one of the most extraordinary examples of Black economic achievement in American history.

Known as Black Wall Street, Greenwood was home to thriving Black-owned businesses, theaters, restaurants, hotels, churches, schools, and families determined to build something greater for the generations that followed.

Despite segregation, discrimination, and overwhelming obstacles, they created opportunity where society had tried to deny it.

They weren't waiting for someone to give them a future. They were building their own.

MAY 31 – JUNE 1, 1921

Over the course of approximately 24 hours, a white mob attacked Greenwood in what is now recognized as the Tulsa Race Massacre.

Homes were burned.

Businesses were destroyed.

Families were displaced.

Lives were taken.

Approximately 35 city blocks were left in ruins. Generations of accumulated wealth, opportunity, and hard work were devastated.

And for decades, the full story remained largely absent from the national conversation.

But Greenwood was never just a neighborhood.

It was proof of what determination, community, education, entrepreneurship, and collective ambition could accomplish.

And although so much was destroyed, the survivors refused to let the destruction write the final chapter.

They returned.

They rebuilt.

They preserved their legacy.

WE BUILT. THEY ATTACKED. WE STILL RISE.

The YEBO® Archive 002 — They Burned What We Built heavyweight tee honors the families, entrepreneurs, survivors, and generations who carried Greenwood's story forward.

The front features a historically inspired visual tribute to Black excellence, resilience, and the achievements of Black Wall Street.

The reverse confronts the devastation of 1921, reminding us that this was not simply a riot.

IT WAS A MASSACRE.

The design carries a message that transcends generations:

THEY TRIED TO ERASE IT. BUT WE REMEMBER.

This isn't simply another graphic T-shirt.

It's a conversation.

It's a reminder.

It's history that deserves to be remembered.

THEY BURNED WHAT WE BUILT.

BUT THEY COULD NOT ERASE WHAT WE ACHIEVED.
