Known as \u003cstrong\u003eBlack Wall Street\u003c\/strong\u003e, Greenwood was home to Black-owned businesses, banks, theaters, restaurants, churches, schools, and families who built opportunity and generational wealth despite the barriers of segregation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThen came May 31 and June 1, 1921.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA white mob attacked Greenwood in what became known as the \u003cstrong\u003eTulsa Race Massacre\u003c\/strong\u003e. Homes and businesses were looted and burned. Approximately 35 city blocks were devastated. Hundreds of Black residents were killed or injured, and thousands were left homeless or displaced.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGenerations of hard work, wealth, and dreams were attacked in a matter of hours.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBut Greenwood's story did not end in the ashes.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSurvivors returned. Families rebuilt.
